Since I signed on the first apartment I saw - I didn't get to participate in the usual 100 apartment sight seeing tour associated with getting a place in Manhattan, I decided to live vicariously through her and tagged along to see some apartments in Murray Hill.
After seeing a couple of places, it was time for lunch. We chose a tiny new takeout joint called Press, that serves - you guessed it - fresh pressed sandwiches.
Although this time instead of the traditional paninis you can find in countless delis around town - Press serves up grilled wraps, filled with your choice of fresh veggies.
Think of it kind of like Chipotle - but with more options. Press works like an assembly line:
- Choose your protein - chicken, rib eye, burger, eggplant & goat cheese, and mushroom & zuchini
- Choose between white and whole wheat wrap
- Pick your fillings - fresh veggies including carrots, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, guacamole, salsa, lettuce
- Finally - choose from a wide assortment of sauces including exotic choices like blood orange vinaigrette and favorites like chipotle mayo
Add a side of spicy fries and you are all set!
Prices are a bit on the higher-end - a combo (sandwich + fries + drink) is $12. But the freshness of the ingredients make it worth it. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.
Another plus - Press opens late - till 4:30am! Perfect for after those bar crawls up and down 3rd.
