2009 Vendy Awards Competition this Saturday!

This Saturday at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens will be the 2009 Vendy Awards Competition.  Come out to support your favorite food trucks from around the city!!

The Vendy Awards are considered “the Oscars” of the street food world.  Organized by the Street Vendor Project, a non profit organization that advocates for vendors, The Vendys feature 5 nominated vendors in a street food cook-off. 

Finalists are:

• Biryani Cart
• The King of Falafel - Fares “Freddy” Zeidaies
• Rickshaw Dumpling - Kenny Lao
• Jamaican Dutchy - O’Neill Reid
• Country Boys/Martinez Taco Truck- Fernando & Jolanda Martinez

 Dessert Finalists:

• Wafle & Dinges
• Big Gay Ice Cream Truck
• Cupcake Stop
  

Individual tickets are $80 until day-of, $100 at the door, $150 Table Service (limited availability) and include food from all the vendors. For more information, visit http://streetvendor.org/vendys

Judges pick the winners, but attendees get to vote for their favorites - with the winners receiving the much desired “People’s Choice Award”.  Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Street Vendor Project.
